Copycat - White Tuxedo Blazer

Copycat - White Tuxedo Blazer

There's a new blog item I want to introduce to you all... 'Copycat'. I'm not sure how often I'll posts this, but I try every other week.

This week it is the white tuxedo blazer of D&G copycat by H&M. The D&G blazer is $995 and the H&M blazer is $50. What is  your opinion about copycats like H&M and Zara? Do you think it's nice that people who are not very rich can purchase fashionable items or do you think copycats are going too far?

  1. I got interested of your comment of "copycating".
I think, it's nice that there is brand who make "almost" the same clothes, but they aren't so expensive. Sure, it's propably not so nice for (example) D&G, that H&M has copyed their blazer, but this is a fact: there are so much people, who wants to wear beautiful D&G, but because of their money situation, they cant.
I don't think H&M and other "copyers" have gone too far yet, and sure, I would want to see something of H&M 's own creations. But when the trend passes by, almost every fashion house & designer does the same kind of clothes, only with small differents and details. I think it's the cold truth, that somebody copys somebody and the line goes on. I hope you understand my point, too :)

    With all love,
    Monika.

  2. good observation and i agree some brands look almost the same. some fashion bloggers look almost the same. i believe h&m and zara are both good brands, good quality in affordable prices. at least some people who can't buy luxury clothes can appreciate it :)

  3. There is a saying that goes, there is nothing new under the sun. Isnt it great that mere mortals can emulate their looks on a shoe string. Xxxx

  5. There are so many brilliant designs out there that the average person can't pay for and it's nice to have access to them via copycat items. As much as I love D&G I think I prefer the more curve hugging H&M version. I love your blog and have followed :)

  6. I think that if they are not identical, copies can really be a good thing for those people who cannot afford expensive clothing!

  7. This thing of copying high-end fashion brands is happening not only at Zara and H&M, I have also soon a entire collection based on Prada last summer at Pull&Bear and so many shoes after Dior, at Topshop. They want to make these items affordable to the average customer, but the question is: do high-end brands have sales problems because of this? I think not, because the customer who has money and it is used to consume at luxurious stores, he will still continue to do that, therefore the average customer will be more satisfied.

  9. I think it's good because sometimes you can't find the original (it's sold out) or too expensive. And they're not 100% the same, so I think it's OK. :)

it's worth it to spend the money on a single long lasting, good quality piece. just my opinion.

  13. Wow almost identical but I'm not surprised, after studying fashion it only made me realise how the whole industry works, basically the high end designers are considered the trend setters with the mass produced more affordable brands later adopting these designs more the masses, it's annoying for them but it's a given and even more now that fashion brands like H+M and Zara have even more of a faster production turnaround, on the other hand great for us who are on a low budget :) it basically dilutes the whole value of luxury brands. As for me, I like to mix it up and always look for the cheaper alternative with the same look first :)
Here is another great example I posted on my blog with shoes, except this time Mui Mui vs Topshop http://www.lechicworld.com/2011/12/glitz-glam-for-holidays.html
Love your post dear! and great blog too! thanks so much for visiting mine too :) Keep in touch! xo

  15. hi, thank you for your reaction. I think it's okay to copy a few things of a garment, or a few deatais. but to copy the whole garment, i think it's not okay. There are a lot of people who buy this, because it's look like the clothes from the luxury brands! And that's a an easy way to earn money for the H&M and the Zara. But it's not good fot the luxury brands. But it is how the fashion industry works. The luxury brands and designers make the trends, and other bug company's are copying this.

  16. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing! I mean there are many of us who like high fashion clothes from brands like D&G, Chanel, LV, etc and are not able to pay for them. I think that adapting those pieces into smaller prices that are more acessible to everyone and the brands like H&M and Zara definately earn lot of money with it. So my point is, why pay $1000 for a jacket when you can have it for $50.
And I don't think that anyone loses. The people who have lots of money and are able to buy a D&G jacket will certainly go to the D&G store, while people like me would prefer to go to H&M and save tons of money :)
But I'm not surprised with all this. The stores need to sell and they know what will attract the costumers, even if that means 'copycating' other brands. xx

  17. Thanks for this lovely comment that You made on my blog! I really appreciate:)
I think this idea of new posts on Your blog - copycat - are great.
I'm a fan of H&M and Zara, and I think this is great that people who doesn't have opportunities to buy D&G or others great stuff from big desingers, have chance to dress like they will. I hate fakes like this ugly bags from D&G that we can find on a lot of markets, but these copies from H&m or Zara are fantastic:)

    I follow You of course:)

  18. good post)
I just really very glad that there are exist brands like ZARA, H&M and etc., cuz it's just a real good chance to look attractive and maybe perfect if u haven't any possibilities to buy Fashion clothes such as D&G, Chanel and so on..actually, the man, who has made ZARA, once decided, that every women should look marvelous) And he was right, I think.. It's more stylish to wear in Zara or H&M and etc. than buy fakes of D&G.. I absolutely agree with previous comments)
